The London Olympics Opening Ceremony:
A Grotesque and Sinister Pantomime

I am glad I made the effort to watch the opening of the London Olympics. It was a most interesting summary of what England has become.
The general purpose of the opening was to legitimise the current ruling class. English history was portrayed as a shameful nightmare. We had Victorian capitalists polluting the countryside and oppressing the working class. We had sexism and racism and war. From this, we were shown the gradual emergence of our caring, sharing, soft and loving new order of things. There was a long celebration of the National Health Service, with eight hundred dancing doctors and nurses, and dancing invalid children. There were joyous messages read out by the great and good. There was more dancing and music and comedy. At the culmination of all this, we saw a corner of the Olympic Flag carried by Doreen Lawrence – the mother of a black youth whose alleged murder in 1993 was made the opportunity to sweep away outmoded institutions like equality before the law and the protection against double jeopardy. Long before the Olympic Flame was lit, the world was supposed to believe that England was a country blessed with genius in every calling and essentially at peace with itself.
They don’t have unlimited power and they certainly don’t have unlimited money. This sporting farce has cost 17 billion so far and the final tag will be 25 billion. At that rate their police state will have a short life–even before economic disaster arrives.
Well, yes. But anything different would not have been allowed. Remember the modern fascist anticedents of the entire “Olympic Ideal”. I’m sure the rot had set in even before 1936, otherwise Hitler couldn’t have got away with the opinions that he did.
And to talk of “The Olympic Family” as a class of persons apart: what does that exactly mean then? Could anyone say, please?
Well, you’ve got to bear in mind that you were watching a religious ceremony. Christendom’s genius was the separation of Church and State, the undermining of which was begun in earnest by Calvin in Geneva and picked up by the Protestant social jihadists. The ultimate upshot was the replacement of the Chuch with the State, hence our modern nominally secular faith called “PC”; it is telling that it took Britain’s most oleaginously religious Prime Minister (Blair) to land the knockout blow. We now have an ulema, a mutaween and a full-fledged theocracy which persecutes heresy (careful what you say on Twitter, mind!), and of course saints (those who significantly contributed to the establishment and extension of the new faith) and martyrs (hence the necessary appearance of Doreen Lawrence in the pageant) and all without the inconvenience of a particular God to get in the way.
So this was a religious pageant; just as Christians celebrated the triumph of Christianity and retold its founding stories (or myths), so does the new Faith. As Christianity was presented as saving Europe from paganism, idolatry, etc, so the new Faith is presented as saving us from everything prior to about 1970 or so.
