Just imagine if this had happened to a Minister in John Majors government. It would have been huge news, there would have been endless discussions on the ‘moral crisis’ in the conservative party. A press scrum would be camped outside the Ministers home and demands for the Prime Minister to ‘take action’. If he then sacked the Minister he would be called weak, if he didn’t he would be called sleazy.
Instead, this is a minor article lost in the backpages, even in the rightwing press.
