At the last Royal Wedding, back in 1981, I spent most of the day in bed, listening to Die Meistersinger. This time, I was bullied by my (Slovak immigrant!) wife and our daughter into having a shave and watching every ghastly detail on the telly.

  1. The Queen cannot win – she is either too imposing, poor Margaret being bullied, hmm I do not think so, or she does not impose enough. It seems if she imposes on something agreeable to a particular viewpoint then its for she’s a jolly good monarch, if she imposes on something disagreeable to a particular viewpoint then its time for ya boo hiss.

    As for saying we need the monarchy to protect us from our elected government officials when they do something a particular group disagrees with, well well, maybe a YES Vote to AV will bring in more muddled governments and the Queen can intervene on our behalf. Hmm.
