Dear All,
I was waiting to be quite sure we’d got a room, which we now have before telling folks.
Hopefully we can persuade a few more MPs to come (had indications from four so far based on a blanket email). I am sending printed invites to every MP tomorrow. I attach a PDF version of the invite (A5 landscape). I suggest everyone personally invites their own MP – make an appointment with him/her and present it.
Text of invitation below:ย
This is to invite you to participate in
The Climate Change Act Reconsidered
on Wednesday 30th Nov 2011 from 1pm in Committee Room 8 Westminster(through Sammy Wilson MP).
An opportunity to discuss the unfortunate consequences accruing from this Act
To stimulate discussion we have the following speakers:
Prof Ian Plimer is Australiaโs best-known geologist and author of Heaven and Earth, Global warming: the missing science and How to get expelled from School: a guide to climate change for pupils parents and punters.
Matt Ridley, author of The Rational Optimist (winner of the Hayek Prize), will speak on the potential for shale gas.
Ruth Lea, currently Economic Adviser and Director of Arbuthnot Banking Group and Director of Global Vision. She is also a Governor of the London School of Economics, will speak on the impact of the Climate Change Act (including the Renewables Directive) on energy prices, manufacturing and business.
Donna Laframboise, journalist and author of The Delinquent Teenager who was mistaken for the worldโs top climate expert – an in depth investigation into the IPCC.
Dr Philip Stott will act as chairman. Philip Stott is a professor emeritus of biogeography at the University of London, and he was Editor-in Chief of the international Journal of Biogeography.
The idea is to allow time for discussion on how to mitigate the effects of the Act as soon as possible. It would assist us if you could let us know if you can come for part or all of this event.
Apologies if you have already accepted. We will inform you of the room as soon as we know.
