I was encouraged by this here.
But I’m not holding my breath: traditionally, Good People do not make the first move against bad. This is sad and regrettable.
But this time, just for once, could it be different? Could we eat the GFNs, before they bankrupt, starve and freeze us?
Common sense does prevail if it has half a chance. Maintaining lies is a very time consuming and expensive business. Like pushing water up hill. It should be encouraging that all one really has to do is get the truth out. Lies shown to be lies, somehow lose their credibility.
And yet a lot of self described ‘conservatives’ also voted for Obama.
It just goes to show that in politics, personality and image can be much more important than reality and principle.
You can fool all of the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all of the time, and while you can’t fool all of the people all the time you can usually fool enough to achieve your objectives. Until the chickens come home to roost and then they beg again for some sanity as the madness lies in tatters around their feet. But each time it seems the enemy learns from his past mistakes and puts up a better showing for his madness so that it sticks for longer before peeling away in shattered dreams and futile hopes. This time will no doubt stick longer but the result will be the same. Yes, the enemy can go on for a while, lies endure for a while. Even Jesus endured/was three days in hell. But reality cannot be broken.
The history of the human race shows multiple examples of societies stumbling from one pack of lying rulers to another, steadily becoming less and less free.
There is no historical imperative that societies wake up to the lies and recover. Lies, distortions and misdirection have repeatedly demonstrated themselves as being consistently powerful and persuasive, even as the reality has stood in shocking and direct contrast to the lies.
The fact is that the majority of the people will happily believe a comforting lie over the truthful evidence of their own eyes.
Classical liberal democracy is the high point of liberty, freedom, civilisation? Sure it’s heading back down, now. In some ways. Because the low grade con men predominate.
Bit I don’t like to think what any of the Caesars/Attila/ English Kings or even Boadecia would have done with DNA profiling or CCTV cameras.
