  1. “The pigs are always pigs” – doubtless if I say anything about this it will be the same as the British Bomber Command people were like Himmer’s Execution Squads absurdity (a denial that any connection was made).

Sean does not really mean that all police are “pigs” (any more than he really meant that Bomber Command were like Himmler’s Execution Squads – people known for their cowardly conduct). It is just wild words which are not really meant (if, indeed, he wrote the line at all).

I do not know whether these two policemen are rapists or not – but I suspect that they are because the social penalities against a women who claims to have been raped in an Islamic culture are so high (indeed not just social penalities – for example in Pakistan a very large proportion of women in prison are in there for being raped, as they are raped, complain, but can not produce the male witnessess required under Islamic law).

The post reminds us of the thing that sparked off the Tunesian revolution (something that Mitt Romney also mentioned – in the last debate) the street vender who was hit by the authorities for not having a license.

I do not know whether the licensing law has been repealed in Tunesia – could someone please enlighten me on this point?

It would be depressing indeed if the fall of the government of Tunesia (with the rise in power of the Islamists and so on) had not even led to the repeal of the licensing law.

    By the way…..

There is a technical problem with the post – when I first clicked on the post (at the base) I was not taken to the Libertarian Alliance site, I was taken to a “smash the system” “destroy the empire” commual “anarchist” site (the sort of people who rename the state “the people” whilst still being collectivists – anti large scale private property in the means of production, distribution and exchange). At the top of the page there was a picture of a young Murray Rothbard – but with several pictures of communal “anarchists” who were about as far from his own anarchocapitalism as it is possible to be.

I must stress that I am not blaming Sean (or anyone else) for this – I think there is a technical problem.

  2. The police are like humanity in that 10% are a credit to the proffession 80% of them are drones doing a job and 10% of ’em are real scum–Inspector Fitup/crooks in monkeysuits/arrogant daddy’s girl authoritarians (of both sexes).

That 80% can be further qualified. Those above the 50% mark are obviously nearer to the top 10% and those below the 50% line are nearer to the dross. Add in the ever more arrogant and abusive laws and it can be seen that while there are some good/reasonable coppers around the are a hell of a lot more than just a few bad apples in the barrel.
