Ukraine: That Macron-Putin Phone Call

When Emmanuel Macron picked up the phone last week and called Vladimir Putin, it wasnโ€™t because he suddenly found religion or had a change of heart about the war in Ukraine. No, it was something much simpler: desperation. The jig is up. The narrative that NATO has been spinning for over a decade is falling apart in real time, and everyone inside the system knows it.

For nearly three years, Western leaders have sold their people a lieโ€”a carefully scripted production that claimed Russia woke up one day in 2022 and decided to invade Ukraine for no reason at all. Supposedly, Putin is some kind of deranged, power-mad imperialist bent on restoring the Soviet Union. Thatโ€™s what we were told. But it was always nonsense. The truth is far more damning: the war in Ukraine wasnโ€™t started by Russia. It was engineered by NATO, the U.S. State Department, British intelligence, and their proxies in Brussels. The war is a Western project. It always was.

Go back to 2014โ€”this is where it all really began. The so-called Maidan โ€œrevolutionโ€ wasnโ€™t a popular uprising. It was a CIA-backed coup dโ€™รฉtat. The U.S. poured billions into destabilizing Ukraine, funneled money through shady NGOs, and installed a handpicked regime willing to do whatever Washington told them to. They armed neo-Nazi militias, cracked down on Russian-speaking regions, and set Ukraine on a direct collision course with Moscow. Anyone paying attention could see where this was heading. This was never about democracy. It was about turning Ukraine into a forward operating base for NATOโ€”a giant weapons depot on Russiaโ€™s doorstep.

So when Macron calls Putin now, three years into a disastrous war thatโ€™s gone completely down the tube for the West, heโ€™s not acting out of statesmanship or humanitarian concern. Heโ€™s trying to save face. Macron knows what he and his allies did. So does Olaf Scholz in Germany. So does the entire political class in London, Brussels, and Washington. These people didnโ€™t just stumble into a warโ€”they built it, then lit the match. And now theyโ€™re pretending to want peace?

What did Macron actually say during the call? According to the French press, he urged Putin to agree to a ceasefire โ€œas soon as possible.โ€ Think about the audacity of that. Macron spent years arming the Kiev regime to the teeth, greenlighting weapons shipments, calling Russia an existential threat, and even suggesting France might use nuclear weapons. And now he wants Putin to just call it off? After Russia has taken the brunt of the fighting and absorbed every sanction the West could throw at them? The arrogance is staggering.

Putin wasnโ€™t buying it. And why should he? According to the Kremlinโ€™s statement, Putin laid out the actual roots of the conflict: years of NATO expansion, Western meddling in Ukraine, the illegal 2014 coup, the targeting of Russian speakers, and the nonstop arming of a hostile regime on Russiaโ€™s border. He said any peace settlement has to reflect the โ€œnew territorial realitiesโ€โ€”meaning, Russiaโ€™s not giving back what itโ€™s taken. And why would they? They didnโ€™t start this war, but theyโ€™re damn well going to finish it.

This is what Macron and the rest of the Western elite refuse to acknowledge. Theyโ€™re still playing games, still acting like they hold the high ground, when in fact theyโ€™re up to their necks in blood. The whole thing has been a Western lie from the start. And now that Russiaโ€™s winningโ€”and they areโ€”the same people who lit the fire want to walk away without consequences. They want to act like peace brokers, like theyโ€™re the adults in the room. But make no mistake, they are the arsonists.

We should all know by now whatโ€™s really happening here. The Western alliance is collapsing under the weight of its own lies. The so-called โ€œrules-based international orderโ€ they keep talking about is nothing but a smokescreen for American military and financial dominance. And this Ukraine debacle has exposed just how thin that veneer really is. The U.S. is out of weapons. The Pentagon admitted it. European stockpiles are empty. Public support is plummeting. And the fantasy that Ukraine could somehow defeat Russia is dead and buried.

Even Donald Trump, who also spoke to Putin last week, seems to grasp this on some level. According to reports, Trump came away from the conversation frustrated that Putin wasnโ€™t ready to make a deal. But why would he be? The Russians have already outlasted the West. Theyโ€™ve taken the land, destroyed Ukraineโ€™s infrastructure, and exposed NATOโ€™s impotence. Now Washington and Paris want to cut a deal? Too late. You donโ€™t get to start a war, lose it, and then dictate terms.

And what does peace even mean at this point? The Kiev regime is a broken shell. Ukraine has lost over a million men, sacrificed on the altar of American geopolitics. The country is depopulated, bankrupt, and functionally non-sovereign. All it has left are whatever weapons the West is still willing to sendโ€”and even thatโ€™s drying up, now the crazies in Israel are needing them. Macron can posture all he wants, but he doesnโ€™t have any leverage. Neither does Trump. Neither does NATO.

In fact, NATO is the biggest loser in all of this. The whole projectโ€”to expand NATO eastward, absorb Ukraine, and box Russia inโ€”has blown up in their faces. Europe is paying the price: skyrocketing energy costs, mass immigration, social unrest, and an economy slowly circling the drain. Meanwhile, Russia is stronger than ever, forging new alliances across the Global South, building trade routes with China and India, and reasserting itself as a global power. This was supposed to be the moment when Russia was isolated. Instead, it’s the West that looks cornered.

So why is Macron making this call now? Because he sees whatโ€™s coming. If the war ends on Russian termsโ€”as it willโ€”the political fallout in Europe will be enormous. These leaders didnโ€™t just make a bad bet; they actively lied to their citizens for years. They told the public this was a war for freedom and democracy, a noble stand against tyranny. But it wasnโ€™t. It was a cynical power play that blew up in their faces. And when the truth finally becomes undeniable, there will be hell to pay.

If Macron or Scholz or Starmer/Johnsonโ€”or any of the othersโ€”admitted the truth, theyโ€™d be finished. Politically, legally, morally. They’d be seen for what they really are: enablers of war, architects of destruction, and pawns of a corrupt transatlantic system that treats human lives as expendable. Thatโ€™s the real reason they wonโ€™t stop. Theyโ€™re locked into the lie. Admitting it now would unravel everything.

So whatโ€™s next? Russia will keep pressing forward. Ukraine will continue to collapse. Western leaders will keep posturing until their own domestic crises become too big to ignore. But one thing is for sure: this war was never about Ukraine. It was about empire. It was about preserving a Western-led global order thatโ€™s been on life support for years. And just like in Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, the architects of this war will walk away from the wreckage pretending to care about peace.

But Putinโ€™s not playing that game. He knows what happened. He knows who pulled the strings. And when this is all over, history will not remember Macron as a peace-seeker. It will remember himโ€”and all of NATOโ€”as the criminals who lit the fuse and tried to run when the fire reached their feet.
