   I can’t remember precisely but I’m sure George Osbourne said a few years ago that the NHS was the 26th largest economy in the world, which would make it larger than Denmark and the Republic of Ireland, among others. In recent years it has become increasingly apparent to me that many of the techniques used by private sector or otherwise non-state organisations must surely have some examples to bequeath to public sector organisations such as the NHS. As you know, I love Utilitarianism, and surely there is a much more efficient means by which to achieve the required ends. Can somebody please tell me if “it’s been tried before – and doesn’t work” or that “you could be right mack daddy…”
